If you are either working on your undergrad or your Master’s degree and would like to live in Tokyo to work on solar system and/or exoplanetary habitability for your Ph.D. (3 year program, IGP(C); 5 year Master’s +Ph.D, IGP(A)), reach me at rramirez@elsi dot jp to initiate a dialogue. If we agree on a project, you will enroll through the Tokyo Institute of Technology Ph.D. program (in Earth and Planetary Sciences) and be working with me (and possibly other colleagues) at the Earth-Life Science Institute (ELSI)
If you are looking for a postdoctoral position in Tokyo and are interested in working on solar system and/or exoplanetary habitability, reach me at rramirez@elsi dot jp to initiate a dialogue. If we agree on a project, one of the best ways to work with me is through a JSPS fellowship . I’ll be glad to be your host researcher.
For both students/postdocs:
Programming experience in a computer language, like Fortran, C, MATLAB, and/or Python is a must. Highly-motivated individuals with astronomy, planetary science, atmospheric science, geoscience, and/or aerospace/mechanical engineering backgrounds are particularly encouraged to apply. A passion to learn is a must.
The Earth-Life Science Institute (ELSI) is dedicated to research on the origin of life on Earth and other planets. ELSI is a one-of-a-kind research institute that offers unprecedented opportunities for scientific collaboration, with colleagues with a collective expertise in a variety of fields ranging from the biological to space sciences.
